Protecting Your Rights as a Tenant

Narayan Law protects tenants’ rights by fighting against unlawful landlord practices such as cutting off power, failing to make necessary repairs, engaging in retaliatory eviction, and discriminating against service dogs, offering free and confidential case evaluations on a contingency fee basis.

Tenant Rights Violations

At Narayan Law, we specialize in protecting the rights of tenants who have been subjected to unlawful practices by their landlords. If you have experienced any of the following violations, we are interested in taking your case:

Violation of Civil Code 789.3 - Cut off power, changed locks, or forced to leave

If your landlord has cut off your power, changed your locks, or engaged in any form of “self-help” to force you to leave the property without a court order, you may have a case. If you have proof of this violation, contact us immediately.

Violation of Civil Code 1945.1 - Retaliatory eviction

If you have paid all of your rent and made a complaint about the property, only to receive a Notice of Eviction within 180 days, you may be a victim of retaliatory eviction. This practice is illegal, and if you have proof of this violation, we are interested in taking your case.

Violation of Civil Code 1942.4

Did the City and County order your landlord to make repairs after you complained to the City and County and the landlord STILL ignored it? A landlord only has thirty five days in receipt of the correspondence from the City or County to make all of the repairs or show good cause on why this was not done. If this happened to you, we are interested in taking your case.

Discrimination Against Service Dogs

We also represent tenants who have been denied housing due to their service dogs. If you have experienced this form of discrimination, contact us to discuss your case.

Free and Confidential Case Evaluations

At Narayan Law, all case evaluations are free and confidential. However, please note that we require proof that a violation has occurred in order to take on a case. Our services are provided on a contingency fee basis, which means there are no upfront charges to you.

If you believe that your rights as a tenant have been violated, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help you protect your rights and ensure that you are treated fairly by your landlord.
